This site contains the North African photographs, Still Lifes and Studies of Montreal
photographer D. R. Cowles. He has documented Jewish,
Islamic, and Roman architecture as well as landscape and cityscape in
Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia. The photographs are made on 8x10 negatives.
Cowles' fine prints are contact printed from the original negatives and
sometimes from specially enlarged negatives, on printing out paper,
using a 19th century process.
